Deadline: July 15

The purpose of this grant is to provide $1000 in books and/or e-books to a school library in Virginia. Follett School Solutions is proud to play a part in the healthy growth of Virginia’s school libraries through their free collection development services such as Titlewave, Titlewise, and Titlecheck. To this end, at least one school library that has shown substantial initiative in improving their existing collection through weeding, and has shown need for additional book funds, will be awarded $1000 in books from Follett School Solutions at the annual conference in November.

Criteria

  • The improvement in average copyright age and/or circulations after weeding of the book collection.
  • The degree of need for additional materials in the book collection and lack of sufficient available funding.
  • The soundness of the rationale for collection improvement.
  • Applicants must be current personal members of VAASL at the time the application is submitted.
  • The candidate must not be a recipient of this identical award the previous three years.
